This is an excellent Shiraz from Australia. It has been sold out in the Northeast for weeks now. If you can get a hold of it - I recommend trying it. It is VERY inexpensive for this quality wine ($5-6 a bottle)

    The description is as follows:

The 2001 Shiraz bounds forward from the glass with berry and vanilla oak aromas. Subdued earthy tones with soft ripe sweetness are displayed in perfect harmony with fine tannins. This is a great Aussie Red which will go great with pasta, steak or even a beaut fillet of kangaroo steak.
The Chardonnay rocks too (if you like Kendall Jackson Chardonnay 1998 -you'll love this)

I had never had Australian wine before and a friend suggested we try it. It is wonderful :o)

Oh, and while I'm at it - here is a great pasta recipe to go with the wine:

    Vodka Pasta

1lb rigatoni or your favorite pasta
    2T-minced Garlic
    2T butter
    2T fresh chopped basil
    2c tomato Puree
    1qt heavy or whipping cream
    Grated cheese (parmesean)
    1oz vodka

In a large sauce pot place butter, garlic, and basil and sauté until
translucent (add the vodka)then add the cream and tomato puree bringing to a boil mixing occasionally.

When it boils, reduce the heat and simmer until it thickens.

Don't forget to taste for salt and pepper.

Cook your pasta how you like it, aldente or soft, mix with the vodka sauce and a handful of grated cheese, mix well and serve.
