  Apologies if this has already been shown, but here's a quote from Watchtower 1953 15th October page 636

  'The number of the spiritual remnant will get smaller year by year as Jehovah removes some of them from this earthly quarry of preparation and places them as "living stones" in the heavenly temple. But oh the throngs of hundreds of thousands of the choicest class of people out of all the nations that now crowd the house of Jehovah’s worship, and these being added to by the thousands from year to year! What glory, what impressive weight, this gives to Jehovah’s house, a glory never lessening but ever increasing as time marches on to Armageddon! Truly all nations must now know that Jehovah has a house of worship and that it is teeming with worshipers. His worship is a reality that cannot be stamped out any more than men could stamp out his "spiritual house," his temple of "living stones.'

  I don't know about the 1950's but the number of the so called anointed has remained about the same since 30 years ago when I first got involved with the dubs, they were mostly people of advanced age at 70 or more. One would expect most of them to be dead by now so something doesn't add up in this issue.
  
  Or as the dubs put it most of them must have failed and had to be replaced like living stones in god's temple that were ultimately rejected. It could take for ever for these last 8000 positions to be filled from dithering dubs but unfortunately only dubs can fill these positions. The entire world must hung on until the temple gets completed.

  As of last year there were over 9000 and increasing.

  The problem the WTS have is that only a tiny number in percentage terms of JWs need to become "anointed" each year for the number to increase. I would expect the figure to be close to or even over 10K this year as the "new light" on 1935 kicks in.

  Yes, he sends his discreet "angel-army" to pull them out of their beds at night. Or pull them off their jobs at work. Jesus told us all about it already.

  Two will be in bed, one will be taken. Two at the mill, one taken. Two in the field, one taken. In Luke, Jesus also tells us that they are being taken to their deaths. So I suppose the remnant is quietly martyred.

  When Jehovah has such a sneaky way of conducting business in stealth and silence, no one even notices that it's happening until it's too late to stop the evil.

  Only a fourth of "the world" is killed by Jehovah.

  Of course you realize, that the WTS does not view all 9105 that partook most recently as being "read" or "genuine" anointed.

Most of the remnant are quite elderly, and over the years the number of those who are truly anointed has been getting smaller. Yet, referring to the great tribulation, Jesus stated: "Unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short." (Matthew 24:21, 22) Evidently, then, some of Christ’s "chosen ones" will still be on earth when the great tribulation begins.

  There is NO POINT showing this to a faithful witless, as they will just point out it is VERY old light.

  I have given up quoting anything to witlesses - they just ask "is that the CURRENT understanding?" or say that it was printed over twenty years ago...

  Truth for a witless is not demonstrable fact but whatever great steaming pile of life giving truth they are expected to gag on at the time.

  They have quietly swallowed the koolaid on the majority of the endtime prophecies and interpretation of the reinterpreted old light without a whimper. The fact that recent Witchtowers have rewritten their doctrines on a scale not seen since the Rutherford period of the 20s has escaped their notice.

  I would estimate that the changes we have seen pointed out on this board also eliminate a huge amount of other peripheral teaching which have not yet been explicitly stated as changed.
