What was the topic of the public talk today, Oct. 5, 2008?

  My wife went to the meeting this morning and she has come back full of JWness. In about a ten minute stretch she spoke out against the paganism of Halloween and then when yesterday she was planning on our neighbors birthday tomorrow, when I asked her if we were going to pick up a card, she said she does not do birthdays.

  Was the public talk something on the things that worldly folks do?? I read Blondie's review and there does not appear to be anything there that is about birthdays or holidays????

  The topic of the public talk is selected by one of the elders and speakers arranged from within or from neighboring congregations. Except for the "special" talk after the memorial and the talk given on the Sunday of the circuit overseer during his visit twice a year, the talks are different at every congregation on a given Sunday.

  Unless it was a 'special talk' or something, every body picks it's own talks from the outlines provided by the WTS. So the subject could have been anything.
