We're on a sightseeing tour and just passed through New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia, and Maine. My question is about what we've been seeing for the past week or so. One local called it a fern of some type. Below, I'll paste a view of what it looks like from a distance and from close. Thanks, Len Miller.

Fatfreek, any possibility that it's cranberries? I was in Maine and Mass at the end of the season a couple of years ago, and it looked something like that. I have no idea really, it just impressed me at the time.

Looks like that martian weed that invaded back in the 80's, during the spate of ufo sightings.

I doubt it. As a native of Mass. I know that most are level bogs that are bordered by canals for irrigation. These fields can be sloping.

I bellieve you nailed it. I searched Google Images and found several images under Low Bush Blueberries. Wiki confirmed it under its description.

Thanks to all. We can now rest easy in our motel room south of Boston.

That was the most wonderful trip I ever took. Mid Oct. in New England. Drove from Boston, up to Bar Harbor (Acadia), and then slowly made our way back. Soooo beautiful, that we plan to move there one day. I'm sick of this 85 degree weather here in October!!

It really is beautiful here. I didn't appreciate it growing up... and spent many years away living in California and Florida... but moved back seven and a half years ago... and love it. Fall is breathtaking. Add to that the Symphony, the Museums, the history.... it's home.
