It's time to choose your health plan..any here care to share?
I'm with United but listened to someone from GHP today...also went to a few others, Essence (sucks) and Humana...what to do..

I am POA for my parent- I chose Humana, and they have been good for everything. I had to fight on some things, but I would still recommend them based on my experience, as well as those of my friends who chose other plans.

Did you know Humana is going to change things next year? ( I recently went to one of their meetings) They will charge you $750 EACH time you are admitted to a hospital and $150. for each ambulance trip. If your parents have any serious problems they may want to shop around. Humana would have been great for me until this year but I have only been on medicare for a year. Now they go and change things!..You also have caps at Humana, depending on the plan, but the Dr visits are not included in that. You will always pay the co-pays.
I have United Health care (A.A.R.P. recommended ) and pay $152. a month...high but I pay for nothing!..(Except prescriptions are not included ) My daughters FIL has been in the hospital 4 times this year, I am pretty sure he will be going with United Health care next year. With Humana he would be paying $3,000. at $750. per hospital stay (4) and $150. For each ambulance ride. With United the premiums would have been $1,824.00 for the year With Humana he is paying about $30. a month. that would be $360. a year. so he would be paying $3,360. for Humana. He has Emphesema (sp) so he WILL have several hospital stays next year. He will be much better off with United ..
I have to admit that Humana is an excellent plan if you are extremely healthy..they even have plans that are free..And RX is included in the plan..but not so good if you have health problems.And the fact that they went from $100. to $750 for a hospital stay ...what else will they raise next time? That was quite a jump!
