  Could it be that the phrase "giants in those days" refer to men in high towers keeping guard and control over those within its city walls?

  Could "giants" also refer to tryannical rulers; 'giants' being a euphemism for power and stature rather than a physical quality of height?

  Could this Tower of Watchers be the origin of a prototype religion to usher in the end time changes and the last deception which entails a paradise earth? Will this dream of paradise be used as the "tranqulizer" to keep people controlled and calm during the midst of the great chaos and takeover?

  the jw's themselves are kept together under the umbrella of the watchtower in order to keep them "safe" from the influence of the "world" ...they maintain that God is in control and that everything that happens is for a reason related to the "outworking" of God's plan...the secular world, however, has no such "support" and therefore they will see "the world and the things that are in it" go from bad to worse. the result of not having the "tranqulizer" as you call it, will be unparrelled(sp?) distress....God is keeping the meek ones safe...matthew 13:24-30...

  the tares, I believe, know who they are and it means nothing to them if they mislead people in their attempt to maintain power "on earth"...but...God knows His own!

  Thanks to this thread, the term Watch Tower now conjures up a completely different mental picture in my mind, namely a Tower built up of 'elder' men intent on watching (controlling) all in their domain, namely the r & f sheeples.

  Somewhere on the first or second page of the Watchtower mag is a blurb stating that the magazine is so named to connote the watching of events in the world unfold as they supposedly fulfill Bible prophecy and relaying that info (to their minions), but in reality, they have been so poor in even making sense of world events as they relate to Bible prophecy (lol) that even in that sense, it is a misnomer...

  Towers are often somewhat archecturally triangular in shape.

  Now that you mention it, it is like another pyramid structure....made of men (and probably just a chunk of an even bigger pyramid)
