SPIRITUAL INCOMPETENCE

The founders of America were great men and women who fled religious intolerance from the motherlands to give birth to a new nation where religious freedom would be guaranteed by law. These laws have become a safe heaven for cults and all kinds of religious scams who hide behind the laws that make churches immune from prosecution.

Russell and company found that the laws of the land allowed him to set up his religion to be able to market his pyramidology beliefs through literature sales. Today the Watchtower is nothing more than a publishing corporation disguised as a religion. Take away the status of a religion and this printing company would be hard hit with all kinds of litigation for the great damage it has caused to millions of people and their extended families.

Elders are nothing more than general managers of the local “company” which is what the congregations used to be called. The only spiritual training they have had is all the policies and procedures of this company. That is not to say the Tower is devoid of spiritual people, they were already spiritual before joining the Tower and they remain spiritual after their stint in the Tower.

If you look closely you will find spiritual incompetence at every level of this publishing company, folks this is by design. The Tower was never meant to be this great compassionate organization that would spend its energies and resources to help its members in need. I drive past a church every day on my way to my office that advertises AA meetings there for the convenience of its parishioners and the general public. Tell me when would this great publishing company allow such an act in one of their properties? When JWs have emotional, relational, financial and psychological problems where can they go and what are they to do? The company says through their managers, “you need to sell more and work harder.”

You may put in years and years of countless time and energies into this company and if one day you disagree with any of it’s policies, your ass is grass. Does the Tower have good employees? Yes. Does IBM have good employees? Yes. In America, in the corporate world, companies pay out big money for suits lost from wrongful termination. The Tower has a license to terminate you at will with no reason other than they dislike you.

If this post has a moral you may have to give it your own.

    Hi Victor,

Thanks for this and your other post on "detowering" a JW.

When you put the right name on the WTBS, it's much clearer what you're really dealing with.

    Best regards,
    Pat

    Vic,

I have never viewed the "Tower" in quite this way before. It changes one's perspective on what they could be liable for if they were a company such as IBM.
Thankyou for the post; a fresh view.

I almost said you "shed new light" on the subject, but thought that would be in bad taste. (The devil is on my shoulder tonight).

Nice to see your posts again, Vic,
    Love,
    Ana

    Hi Victor, All,

Thanks for posting. As you know, I am a long time fan of your work.

It took some time after quitting Watch Tower Corporation activity for me to understand the scope of the publishing company's influence on me. It all revolved around the books and magazines the leaders wrote and published.

On Sunday morning we went door to door offering the books and magazines the leaders wrote and published. On Sunday afternoon we had a *talk* where the speaker quoted from the books and magazines the leaders wrote and published. Then we had a Watchtower study where we studied the books and magazines the leaders wrote and published.

Monday evening was personal study night where we studied the books and magazines the leaders wrote and published.

Tuesday was bookstudy night where we studied the books the leaders wrote and published. In the 50's we had one hour service before the meeting to distribute the magazines the leaders wrote and published.

Wednesday night was backcall night and we returned to people who had accepted the books and magazines the leaders wrote and published.

Thursday night was meeting night where we talked about and read from the books and magazines the leaders wrote and published.

Saturday morning was service and we went door to door with the books and magazines the leaders wrote and published.

Best wishes Victor. I'll be watching for more posts from you. Thanks again,

    gb

I just wonder a bit when people write about how extremely good for example the Salvation Army is, because it does so much for the benefit of the alcoholics and drug addicts and homeless and poor etc. (and they DO, I am not at all trying to negate that!), but I remember some 30 years ago, when I was (also) young, I went to quite a few of their meetings, and their teachings, what were they about? Much about hell and damnation and burning sulphur and brimestone. Eternal flames for those who did not accept their message. So behind the very good deeds and the singing and the uniforms and the meek appearances was hell and damnation to the world.
There is a vast difference, I am trying to say, between the outward appearance of certain groups and what are the inner teachings. Perhaps one should not to such an extent single out one as bad while singing praise to another, when it turns out the other one also has its darker shade of pale?

    OldHippie,

Your points are valid. However, this is a discussion board pertaining to issues affecting Jehovah's Witnesses. While acknowledging the faults of ALL religions, not everyone here has time to explore the pros and cons of all the myriad religions found in this world.

GopherWhy shouldn't truth be stranger than fiction? Fiction, after all, has to make sense.

Quite so, Gopher, but it seems there is only ONE organization (guess which .....) which is REALLY BAD all thru, and which more or less is to blame for all evil which is to be found on Earth. So I just tried to say that perhaps there is "evil" behind polished surfaces elsewhere - eh!, well - "too". If it is an example to hold in such a high esteem, (and one here critisizes (sure the spelling is wrong!) the WBTS for not handing out soup like the SA does) to hand out soup (no offense intended), then perhaps the example is not so very good after all, when in fact the soup-givers threaten everybody except themselves with eternal flames .......
(Languages are a tough thing - the sentence makes perfectly sense in my language, but seems remarkably strange and obscure in "English"; still I hope parts of it can be understood.)

What I WILL give you, is to accept and acknowledge that among the elders and servants there is frequently an astonishing absense of "spiritualness/spirituality" in discussions, everyday talk, evening dinners etc. Far too many seem to dwell with liquour prices, soccer games, new car prices, computer sizes etc., and the more spiritual types of conversations can be had with new ones, those not being servants etc., and this supports the "business" or "corporation" or "organization" image. I think that happens in many organizations dealing with religion, environmental issues, many types, that the organization-outlook takes over and one forgets what were the roots. In stead, one looks at the organization and how big it is, how smooth it operates etc., as if that were proof final that it is God's channel. What is it were forbidden tomorrow and the buildings etc. closed, as happened in France? The percentage drop shows many could not cope with that, many could not stand persecution, ridicule and the disappearance of organizational buildings etc. What if the airplanes had hit Brooklyn Heights in stead? What would have been shattered?
