See other thread just a few above this! :-)
My questions for them, (reposted from other thread):
---------
It's also a translation thing. Some translations use the phrase "peace and safety", which Obama didn't say. Also, some translations simply say, "whenever they are saying 'peace and safety'" or "whenever they are saying 'peace and security'"; whereas other translations say "whenever they are saying 'there is peace and safety'" or "when people are saying, All is well and secure"
And finally, does 1 Thess. 5:3 predict a time in the future, nearly two milleniums after it was written? Or was it talking about the fall of Jerusalem? Do we buy into a dual meaning? IS that a WT teaching, to buy into a dual meaning? or is that the original intention of Paul? -

What society has ever not wanted peace and security? And what politician in a position to do something about it would not talk about peace and security? This has given JWs many opportunities to get excited in the past and will continue to in the future as well.

Oh no the end must be near. Though I do remember the witnesses getting excited about what Ronald Regan said about old testament prophets.

OMG! I remember that slogan. I also remember my mom - when - if I recall correctly - Nixon used the phrase. She was all... "and sudden destruction"...
Geez! Are the JWs _still_ using that b.s. to scare the masses?

I believe the world will get better to a point that people will be saying "peace and security". In some ways the world gets better and better every day. Don't you agree?

So is it because the term is in popular circulation in world politics or his speech writers felt suddenly inspired by god?
