Did you notice the mention about being "initiated into the circle of scientists"? Science and other academic fields all have their oaths. They are all layers of secret societies. I am certain much information has been withheld from the earthlings concerning discoveries both ancient and new.
It was a good parallel to what many people probably deal with when it comes to conscience and truth being on the line.
