Why did you tell us?

I found this interesting. This was part of someone's profile on another site. I will change it a bit to fit the JW thinking. For the people speaking I will change it to a worldly person talking to a Missionary (Pioneer or anyone in the JW mindset):

Worldly Person:Is it true that if we do not know about God, we cannot sin and go to hell? (ie. die at the big A)
Missionary:Yes, that is what we believe.
Worldly Person: Then why did you tell us?

Brilliant! And succinctly said, I like that. My husband and I have had this discussion. He said that if Jehovah's Witnesses REALLY do believe the innocent will have a chance at resurrection, then they are actually LOSING souls in droves by insistently pounding on doors. He said that he himself would be much more likely to listen and believe if he were to be resurrected into a perfect world...

    Marvelous and ironic, really.

Thank you for your response. I found this to be profound. THEY do not understand this concept. If you shut your mouth, the general population has a better chance at salvation than if you present your 'truth' and they reject it.

I still cannot figure out their basic concept.

    Dazed,

I remember having this conversation with a group while doing street-witnessing years ago (wow...I can't believe I used to be out at 5am walking from busstop to busstop...sorry just had a flashback). Anyway, they looked at me like I was crazy for several seconds which felt like forever but I could tell that it struck a few of them.

On the same lines, I told the group that sometimes the whole JW thing didn't make sense because if no longer exist when you die then you wouldn't know that you didn't make it to the new world plus the bible says that maybe we will be saved. They said to think about how my JW friends and family would feel. I was like well everyone would forget I even existed after a few hundred years anyway.

This happened when I was around 21/22 then I started feeling guilty about my doubts and jumped deep into pioneering. Darn this cult.
