I was talking to a witness today, and when talking about how quickly things can change. I mentioned the cost of gas excuse for the book study change and how now it is gone so low and while sort of acknowleging it he immediately goes of on a tangent about the changes in the forestry sector. Since the slow downs etc. he cites how paper costs have spiralled. But according to him (sounds like some story he has heard) the society with their superior insight bought up large amounts before the prices went up. Then he concludes with 'what do you expect, the brothers are always way ahead of the world". So the misread on the price of gas on their part is hohum but this thing with the paper makes them genius. I didn't hear or read anything on the paper issue myself, but have noticed if they fluke out on something that makes them look good, they make a big deal of it. On the other hand when they mess up you only hear about it if you have inside info. They never admit to the things that are embarassing.

[ chuckling ] Spoken like a little boy who brags how his daddy is the strongest man in the world. This is a common meme that has been repeated among the rank and file, but without a lot of substance to it.
I suppose the Watchtower is way ahead of the curve in insisting that homo sapiens have only been on earth for 6,000 years? I suppose all of these evolutionary biologists are going to beat themselves in lamentation as to how wrong they were about creation?
I suppose when Turkish geologists finally discover Noah's ark, all of the nay sayers are going to extole the Watchtower for being right on that one too?
Yes, the Watchtower was way ahead of the rest of the world when they predicted the end in 1914, 1918, and 1925. They were trail-blazers and trend-setters when it came to making a mockery of the Bible and making asses out of religious leaders.

At some point I remember someone saying that the Wt & Aw mags were always "ahead" of current events; and that if they ran an article about something, it would soon be in the rest of the news. For the longest time I wondered how the WTS could do that ... were they foretellers of events or something? ... and I kept my eye on the mag topics and compared them to the news for the longest time.
ANd then I finally realized that the mags had nothing at all to do with the news, ever. Well, maybe once. In all my years. -

ANd then I finally realized that the mags had nothing at all to do with the news, ever. Well, maybe once. In all my years. This reminds me of an issue a few years back about pandemics. It basically said it will definitely happen. Bird flu was all over the news then. At the time I was completely brainwashed and was like, oh crap, they know it's coming. And maybe it will someday. But at the time they accomplished their mission by playing on people's fears. So if it does happen you can rest assured it won't happen the way the WT predicts. -

I heard this same story back in the 80s. Its an old one. There is no end to the recycled fables they try to tell. The problem is that the newer conscripts will buy into this clap trap.
