    From The Message Bible:

Genesis 6:14 "Build yourself a ship from teakwood. Make rooms in it. Coat it with pitch inside and out.

    Worms don't like tar.

The real question is whether or not Noah was required to bring along 2 of every species of boreworms???

Now now, Noah must have brought along a block of nice soft pine just for the boreworms. He had years to collect the worms, two of every kind, and the block of tasty soft pine had to last about one year. Boreworms don't eat to much, so the block did not take up much space.

He had to keep the birds away from them in case they get eaten.

Why did noah bring the Mosqitoes and flies along? Huh?

Maybe Noah asked them to lay off the wood in the superstructure for 40 days on the promise that they could eat the ark when it was no longer required?

Similar deals may have been struck with other wood oriented creatures, eg beavers, termites, death watch beetles etc.
