Advertising at convention locations?

Many JW conventions take place in commercial convention centers. I was just thinking about the one local to us. There are large posters all around the concourse available for advertising. I wonder how much it would cost to place an advert in a couple? Somethings like:

From the book Seductive Poison by Deborah Layton A Jonestown Survivor's Story:

"When our own thoughts are forbidden, when our questions are not allowed and our doubts are punished, when contacts and friendships outside of the organization are censored, we are being abused.
When our heart aches knowing we have made friendships and secret attachments that will be forbidden if we leave, we are in danger.
When we consider staying in the group because we cannot bear the loss, disappointment, and sorrow our leaving will cause for ourselves and those we have come to love. WE ARE IN A CULT!"

    i think something like

    freeminds.org

in huge type is much more subliminal - people might check it out later without really knowing why....

Oh man, it's been ages since I was to a convention. I may not be remembering things correctly, but I don't recall seeing any advertising except for maybe things like a logo on a scoreboard. If there were such things, I might have had something to read/look at instead of being bored out of my skull.

It may be that the advertising was either taken down or covered over.

If the JWs are going to see it, you'd want to know that before spending the $$...

Maybe a billboard outside of the site?

I think the rental contract stipulates whether or not ads could be covered up (probably not allowed). The only recourse you'd have is to spy on them with a camera and then complain to the venue if they're covered. That would be a pain.

And you'd have to make sure the ad did not appear in any way, shape, or form to be religious bigotry or hatred.

Are you really thinking of doing this? It would cost a lot.

The last time I was at a Grand Boasting Session, the advertisement banners scattered around the rear were left in place. On the scoreboard, too. However, they were not of a religious nature.

I don't see why a church couldn't advertise in a venue like this, if they were willing to pay the going cost. After all, people can research that church online and see if it's really worth joining or not. You cannot get a person who is not in the market for a religion into a church solely by advertising it (it also will not get people who are not in the market for car body works or fast "food" to buy products, either).

However, a simple link to an apostate web site would be acceptable. It costs nothing to just look them up, and once they are there, they might browse it. Fair warning: Those who are in it for the power are not going to be affected by apostate material (only those who are in it because they think it's the truth are going to fall for it). People that are in it for power already know it's a lie, and they are staying in to harass and control others. In fact, I have heard that most bishops, cardinals, the Pope, and most hounder-hounders and above are atheists who are using the God hoax and the Original Sin hoax to control other people and extort them.

In all seriousness, those attending the DC in Perth in 2009 can expect to see huge bill posters relating to the WTS. The hotel we stayed at in 2008 had a massive bill board across the street picturing a door with the message 'Jesus is knocking at the door'. It had a big impact on us. We tracked down who put the poster up, a Christian ministry group in Perth.
