    They believe:

    1. Their doctrine is the Bible

    2. There is only one God, the Father, Creator.

    3. They view Jesus as God’s only son, who is today under the authority and position of His Father.

    4. The Holy Spirit is a force or power emanating from God.

    5. Satan is a fallen angel engaged in an age-long struggle to deceive and seduce humankind to follow him rather than to obey God. He is evil, a deceiver, a murderer, a liar, and has power only insofar as God allows.

    6. Man was created by God per the Genesis account.

    7. The only God-ordained ministry is made up of men and women who follow Jesus’ instructions to His disciples at Matt 10:5-14,Mark 6, Luke 9 (namely, them).

    8. All people receive a resurrection, either to eternal life, or eternal punishment.

    9. The healings, miracles, speaking in tongues, casting out demons were divine signs used only in the first century.

They refer to themselves as “true Christians” and only they are “in the Truth”.

They practice disfellowshipping of errant members and practice shunning. Any member ceasing association is viewed as Disassociated and is shunned by all ‘faithful’ members including family members.

The organisation with its elders are viewed as the sole channel of God’s Salvation.

Who are we referring to? Who does it sound like?

You may think immediately of Jehovah’s Witnesses but, in fact, this describes another pseudo-Christian cult bearing the name of “The No-Name Church” or Two by Twos.

There are many in Australia and, just as with JWs, many are now bravely turning away from the religion of their birth.

One of the first to do so was a young woman who, despite severe opposition from her family, stuck to her decision to seek Christian freedom away from that cult. Despite being ostracised she continued a solitary life for some years. Others were influenced by her example and, they too, including elders separated themselves from the cult and eventually so did her parents.

Now they are re-united as free persons.

35 of them had a re-union earlier this year in Sydney. They came from all parts of Australia to be together. We are hoping that soon some will be able to join us at one of our bbqs in Sydney. What an encouragement that would be for those Dubs still wavering.

    Cheers,

That's very interesting, ozzie. Do you know anything more about this religion? Is it limited to Australia? What is it's background, etc? I would be interested in knowing.

I think that a lot of JW teaching is not unique to them. I met a young man in a debate on another board once that told me that he believed in one God, (no trinity) and no hellfire, and a couple of other interesting beliefs that JW's believe. He was Church of God. I contacted COG headquarters and asked them if this was their official stand on these things and I was told that it was.

    G'mornin' Ozzie:

Once again I am reminded of the coccoon of limited knowledge I was raised to believe up until just a few years ago. I truly thought we were the only ones to believe all these "truths" you just enumerated because only WE had the FD&S to guide us to God.

I'm glad to hear that others who have been trapped as we have, are able to break free from such bondage. If they do come to one of your bbq's...how interesting that will be to "compare notes".

I'm sure you'll keep us posted!

    Cheers!!
