How the bible backs the idea of slave reparations

Alot has been said at the idea of giving money to all the african-americans who are in this country because their ancestors were taken as slaves. Personally, I think its a load of crap. I don't believe people today should have to pay for the mistakes of their ancestors or that other people should hit the proverbial lottery because of who their ancestors were. Once again, I'm not a christian and I do not believe in the bible, here's another reason why.

According to the bible the reason that we are so sinful today is the fact that Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit. Because two people ate some bad fruit thousands of years ago we all still continue to have to pay the price for their mistake. Basically, we are paying the price for something our collective ancestors did. If we are still having to deal with something so minor two people did thousands of years ago then why shouldn't we also have to deal with something almost an entire culture did that was much worse than eating something a few hundred years ago? To me at least, the bible seems to back that idea and we all know the bible is never wrong is it? (I'm hoping you could tell the sarcasm there)

Yet another reason why I don't believe in the bible.

    I don't need to fight
    To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven.

For me, reparations are the fruitage of poor history teaching.

The Civil War was fought over slavery, period. Since it ended,
history books have gradually shifted away from this fact to
avoid offending Southern sensibilities ("The War Between the
States"). Read Lies my Teacher Told me. Consider the quote
from Lincoln himself when introduced to the author of Uncle
Tom's Cabin - "the little lady that started this great war"

The cost in blood and resources was enough payment.

I don't think compensation is feasible. Hey what about paying 'rent' to the native indians...it was their land to start with before the good old white man stole it!

Oh, I totally agree that reparations are a load of crap. All I was doing was arguing how (to me at least) the are backed by the bible. If you've ever read any of my posts (including this one) you'll know my thoughts of the bible.

    You who say
"I don't believe people today should have to pay for the mistakes of their ancestors "

Do these same people not benefit from the mistakes of their ancestors? Are they not prosperous in large part from the labor of african-american slaves?
