Indeed.
A face expresses the person's feelings.

The website presents bad information .... that photo was taken in 1910 (see the copy published in the 1 September 1910 Watchtower). Russell did not travel in 1914. Also I have my doubts that the boy is really Malcolm Rutherford. He doesn't quite look like a young man of 17, which is how old Malcolm would have been at the time. He looks older in the photo taken of him in 1911, but then again this photo here is of poor quality.

Hi, Leolaia.
Thank you for the information of that Watchtower.
It seems that the photograph is subtly different although I checked that Watchtower magazine.
(For example, the hat, and the difference in the direction of people's face, and the angle of the cane which the male has. etc...)
http://www.archive.org/details/WatchTowerBibleandTractSocietyofPennsylvaniaWatchTowerpubs_0But it is the photograph taken on April 24, 1910 clearly.

They seem to be different exposures of the same group pose. Remember that in those days, the exposures were long so there probably was a short break between exposures.

Indeed.
Since deep wrinkles will be made to their face if they continue smiling long time, don't they have a smile?

A very interesting photo of C T Russell and friends on the Mount of Olives. I saw copies for sale on e-bay some time ago and wrote to the vendor about Malcolm Rutherford.
According to the 1910 Watchtower report on this trip the following were in the party: C T Russell, Bro Driscoll, Bro Jones, Bro Rutherford plus:- Bro & Sis Devault, Bro & Sis Ward & SON, Bro & Sis Owens, Sis's Cobb, Noble, Frost, Paschal, Houston & Jackson; Bro's Pierson, Wilson, Young & Koetitz (Joined Switzerland). Sis Rutherford travelled as far as Paris. A Bro Hall joined the group here. They were met in Jaffa by Bro & Sis Thompson. The trip to the Mount of Olives was on Sunday 24 April 1910. I think if young Malcolm had been on the trip it would have been mentioned in the Watchtower report. While C T Russell was in Britain, J F Rutherford took the opportunity to visit friends in Norway, Sweden & Denmark then rejoined the group a few weeks later. Once again no mention of Malcolm. I think the boy is probably the WARD's son.
I also checked the Ellis Island immigration data and when the trip returned to the USA Ward's son was 12 years old.
