Since Jesus should have been familiar with the scriptural dictates of Leviticus (17:10-14):

10 ‘And whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people....

    With this in mind....

Why would Jesus originate a communion in which symbolic blood was consumed?

Eating the flesh and drinking the blood of dead gods and heroes would not have been a new concept back then.

Jesus (or the control freaks that made this cr@pola up) substituted booze and cookies to make the rite acceptable to their flock while still appealing to the pagans (the Other Sheep) they wished to convert.

    Cheers

My understanding was that his perfect flesh & blood sacrifice fulfilled the Law and it was no longer in effect. Of course, his references to drinking/eating him was before he was killed. Yes, I know, lots of stuff in the law was kept. It's no wonder I'm an atheist. Such a bunch of primitive mumbo jumbo. I have a list of questions on just this "washed in the blood of the Lamb" etc. stuff. Never heard an intelligent answer.

I'll stick with the flying spaghetti monster.

Does anyone ever ask the JWs questions like this?

Wouldn't it be an exercise in thinking for them? Would it work?

Because that blood was without sin and contained the sinless life that replaces Adams blood which we hope to receive in the kingdom. To emphasize how important this life that is contained in our blood is even drinking the blood of animals was forbidden. Ge 9:4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. Such rules would not be permanent but would serve to enlighten generations to come how important such life is. Otherwise we could never grasp: Joh 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Joh 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. This would seem silly unless a strong message preceeded it like the one you mentioned. And since wine was used to represent it no real transgression of Law took place.
