I wrote an article about Watchtower-sanctioned shunning for next month's issue of Minnesota Atheist. Since most of you probably aren't subscribers, you can read it here:

It's the lead story on MN Atheists' website (for the moment, anyway).

Hope you like it (there's a spot to leave comments following the article).

Thanks S.B. a very succinct summary.

BTW did you catch thread with the dubisms that called shunning the "Dub Snub"???

No, I never heard that term before. Do you know where the thread is?

It's a thread I started but someone else came up with the Dub Snub. There is some very funny stuff on the thread. You might want to BTTT if think it's funny enough to share with all of the newbs who are on here today.

    Here it is:

I've never hear the term, "Black Collar Crime." Describes clergy criminals.

I knew it! I just knew it!

SIMON (not JWD Simon): And which part of your plan dictated the necessity of beating up a Shepherd?

    EARLY: That ain't a Shepherd.

Loved your essay. Especially where you point out that shunning, far from being a "loving" doctrine, serves a practical purpose for the dubs -- it keeps those who have working brains from spreading their "disease" to the faithful braindead.

I've already copied it into my permanent files.

    Way to go!

    Thanks, parakeet.

Yeah, I find it really annoying that they classify shunning as "loving".
