Dear Brothers,
I've been under the opinion that we Jehovah's Witnesses are famous for preaching this good news of the Kingdom. After all, Matthew 24:14 is our scripture and every cover of the Watchtower says 'Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom'.
I decided to take a survey to prove this point. When I would go into a restaurant for a coffee break while out in service, (honest I only took a short one and did not count my time while having coffee)I would ask the waitress, 'Have you ever heard of Jehovah's Witnesses'?
Most said they have. I then proceeded to ask them what they were famous for.
Many said things like, 'Michael Jackson' isn't he one of them'? Or aren't the Williams sisters Jehovah's Witnesses? Or, 'they're the ones that don't salute the flag, don't vote, or they're the ones that don't take blood transfusions, etc.,etc..
Never once, did anyone ever mention the Kingdom of God in reference to us. Why is this?
So, my question is this, what can we do to change things so that people will really know what we stand for and what we are preaching about?
Warm Christian greetings,
Outaservice
P.S. Do any of you guys ever get treated to dinner at Juniors or Mama Leoni's, Eamonn Doran's, La Traviata's or any other of the fine New York Restaurants? You might try asking the waiters the same question.
