Imagine if the Witnesses ruled the world! Something like this happened in the dark ages when science was banned by religion and the Inqisition. Anyone coming up with "crazy" theories like the earth revolves aroung the sun faced death and science stalled for nearly 1,000 years. Today we would have space stations on the moon if it wasn't for "clergy rule" setting mankind back. Science only began to take off in the late 1700's. Damn religion!

Were it not for religion, we would have had the Internet back in 80 AD, we would be on the moon by 65, on Mars by 85, and living forever by 130 AD. We would already be resurrecting the dead, expanding our planet into other dimensions, and by now having figured out how to create another galaxy and keep our sun at the optimum condition to sustain life forever. Your Internet access (phones, too) would be connected by oscillating gravity, preventing congestion and blackouts. We would have unlimited free energy by now. And no recessions, except the ones where people are in between breakthroughs.

Given a chance, the Washtowel Slaveholdery intends to do the opposite. We will all be owned by the Slaveholdery, and everything we do is what they tell us to. They will "prove" science wrong by writing a washtowel article against it, and people can get killed for disputing the washtowel article (even if it is blatantly wrong). Disease will "result from courses of sin", not from germs or environmental factors. We will be living like that forever, because anyone that does anything except what they are told will die.

The Romans discovered steam power, but didn't recognize its potential and only used it for toys. Imagine if their empire had lasted and they exploited it. And/or discovered electricity.

Just to expand on 007s observation: Consider how much we've advanced in the past 100 years. The things we take for granted today weren't even the stuff of science fiction 100 years ago. Now try to imagine where we'll be in 500 years. You can't. It's just too mind boggling.

And if it weren't for religion we'd be there now.
