Hi,
I sometimes go on the WT site to have a look to see what they have to say for themselves. Being a born-again Christian I find some of the stuff make me laugh, some makes me sad and the odd thing makes me mad. Mostly I see insidious deceit in amongst the material presented.
Anyhow, here is the latest article, no doubt with the "memorial" coming up.
The Eucharist—The Facts Behind the Ritual
OK, I just skim read but by the time I got here I started paying more attention.
Primarily, though, the Lord’s Evening Meal is a communion meal. Those involved are (1) Jehovah God, who arranged for the ransom, (2) Jesus Christ, “the Lamb of God,” who provided the ransom, and (3) Jesus’ spiritual brothers. By partaking of the bread and wine, the latter show that they are fully united with Christ. (John 1:29;1 Corinthians 10:16, 17) They also show that they are in “the new covenant” as spirit-anointed disciples of Jesus. These are the ones who will reign with Christ in heaven as kings and priests.—Luke 22:20; John 14:2, 3;Revelation 5:9, 10.
So here is what I though.
1. OK
2. OK
3. OK
What, I agree with the WT on the core doctrine of the bread and wine?
No, by 3. I was mad!
Matthew 12:46-51 (New International Version)
Jesus' Mother and Brothers
46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you."48 He replied to him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."
Matthew 5:9 (New International Version)
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
Galatians 3:26-28 (New International Version)
Sons of God
26 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.John 1:12-13 (New International Version)
12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
In short, all who believe in Jesus are in the new covenant and should take the bread and wine. There is zero mention is any of these verses about an "anointed class" or only 144,000-that is a WT false doctrine.
This one is a pure lie too, even against their own reference!
These are the ones who will reign with Christ in heaven as kings and priests.
The verse they quote says this
R evelation 5:10 (New International Version)
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth."
The verse says "reign on earth" not in heaven! No-one is going to be up the reigning, not even God because He has come down to earth too.
Well so much for "the truth" and the "light is getting brighter" :(
All the best,
Stephen
