I saw this article too and it brought back some difficult memories for me. Many years ago, I paid my own way through the same college - my mother was shunning me at the time. It really hurts - I hope she has more support than I had.

She's a strong young woman. I'm pulling for her. She can do it. And congratulations to her for leaving the JWs. I feel really sorry for her Dad. He's enslaved.

I read that article in the PD last week. In fact one of my co-workers brought it to my attention because she saw the JW connection. I think the more open and outspoken ex-JWs are, it really gives a "bad witness" - which is the whole point.
