Hi, this is my first post, although i've been loving this forum for awhile and its really helped. I'm giving serious thought

to joining the navy, for the experience and to help pay for college.

Did you or anyone you know leave the "truth" and join the military, if so was it a negative or positive experience?

Hey, I just wanted to say Welcome!!

I would have loved to join the military back in the day! But....I ended up with a daughter!

I'm so proud that is something you are thinking of doing!!

When you feel like it, let us know a little about you. Let us know if you go into the military.

    We got your back here!!

My son was forced to go to meetings by me until he was 9 at which time I apologised

and told him I had been mislead and lied to and it took me till he was 9 to figure out how

    to deal with it.

My son joined the Navy when he was 18,

He got a 4 year degree out of it.

He never went on a ship and was in school the whole time.

He did spend a few days on a tug boat bringing torpedos to Patrick airforce base from the keys,

he just supervised the civilian employees.

I think the Navy is probably the safest of the forces. I checked the number of deaths in the

almanac while my son was in.

If you want to be safe you have to use your brain and engineer your post.

My son got out after 4 years and is now an RN with a bachelors degree in business.

While he was in and talking about making it a career, I tried to steer him towards

submarines which seemed safest to me during these and those days.

If your on a submarine you have a greater risk dying from them wrecking the ship

hitting something than, being shot or hit by depth charges.

He was in during the Clinton era, things were much more peaceful then.

The coast guard would probably be like the navy.

If you dont go on the submarines you run the risk of patrolling some countries rivers

that hate Americans in a fast tug boat.

If I was young and out of school, I would go to the Navy or Coast guard.

If you can make it a career youll be retired by the time your 50.

But I dont think it would be good for a marriage or maintaining a marraige.

You have to have a girl in every port. And be like Dion in the song the Wanderer.

I dont see anything wrong with that if you're wired that way.

Here's a fact people don't like to entertain: death is NATURAL. We all will die someday, and almost everyone who dies had plans for the next day - plans that got put on infinite "hold."

Witnesses will tell you that death isn't natural, but that is a LIE intended to sell books and magazines, and they have yet to produce anyone who will not die; most of thei "millions now living" in 1925 are -- guess what? Dead. The rest soon will be. Witnesses have been lying for a LONG TIME.

People die all the time, for all sorts of reasons. People die of old age and disease. Young people die because of hereditary defects, accidents, stupidity, or the stupidity of their friends or complete strangers.

Yes, people in the military die. If you think ANYTHING is going to make you SAFE and keep you from dying, you're dreaming.

Warriors fully accept the inevitability of their deaths and set the fear of death aside. Be a warrior.

"Cowards die many times before their deaths" - Shakespeare, in "Julius Caesar"
