    Well folks,

I guess I'm officially old. Got my first Social Security check in the mail and can deposit it tomorrow. My mind doesn't feel like it is 62 years old. Inside I still feel like 30. My main goal/wish is to live a very long and healthy life so I can get all the money I can from what I paid in for most of my life.

I opted to have the first check mailed to me so I can scan it and keep in in my computer as a reminder. From now on, the monthly stipend will be direct deposited. That's the safest way!

Here's wishing all the rest of you seniors and those about to become senior citizens a long, happy and healthy life.

My husband turns 65 this year. I've already signed him up for Social Security. But we opted to wait until Jan of next year to start receiving the money. They told him that way he can get the full amount he's entittled to and continue to work as much as he wanted.

    Congratulations HappyDad!

As a born-in JW, I wasn't even supposed to finish high school in "this system." When I finally got out a few years ago, I actually started thinking about my retirement. I was relieved that, since age 16, I had worked jobs that paid into SS. However, I'm 46 now, and I keep hearing stories that the program will be broke before I'll be able to collect. Sigh...

There is a man who works with me and he is 83...I see myself in him. Im sure he hadnt planned on working at this time in his life. Perhaps he just enjoys the work.

My husband and I were self employed for most of our marriage...I probably wont be able to live on my SS. :*(

    Congrats HappyDad!

I'm 14 years away from retirement, but I'm not under any illusions. I'll have to keep working, at least part time after I'm 65. I didn't plan for retirement when I was a JW, and I went through a costly divorce too which ate up what little I had. I have expensive tastes too, which doesn't help.
