What is it with frat boys and alcohol?

Tragic story this week. A frat boy was walking home from a party, presumably drunk out of his mind, and fell asleep on the railroad tracks. Train comes, and you can guess what happened. He survived, but is in critical condition. What's so infuriating is that this could have been easily prevented.

shoot, that happens once a year at least @ chico state U. Of course, the tracks run right through campus...

The tracks here are a couple of blocks from campus. I just can't image anyone, even drunk, going to sleep on railroad tracks. He was coming back from Dickson street--a bar on every corner there. He's got severe head injuries and a severed hand--will never be the same.

It's very sad. The social acceptability of this sort of alcohol abuse needs to change.

Seemed like a good idea at the time....

The schools should encourage pot smoking. I don't think you could smoke enough pot to want to take a nap on the railroad tracks. Plus, I hear that Abe Lincoln enjoyed his weed.

No, pot would be a problem. You'd have a lot more degrees in the arts.

Sounds like natural selection to me. Nature tends to weed out the stupid people.

Yes, that is a sad story for a guy that is so young in life and had so much to experience.

Youthful adolescences is what this about alcohol consumption is the highest in the under 25 age group,

and over indulging is common practice, have done it myself when I was in my 20's.

I don't think there is enough knowledgeable awareness of the dangers of alcohol use or abuse,

illicit drugs seems to get most of the awareness programs in schools and about.

Alcohol can be just as dangerous of a product as hard drugs and can do an equal amount of damage to your health.

For an example most 18 , 19, 20 year olds don't have a clue on how much 40 proof alcohol would it most likely take before they

are barfing all over the place and passing in and out consciousness or how many beers it would take.

And lets face it guys are always trying to show up one another on how much they can drink between their friends or peers.

Its just another contest to them, one that unfortunately many times turns out fatal.
