This really ticks me off. The state of CA is broke already. I am a long time motorcycle rider but this is over the limit. The guy was drunk, but yet he gets awarded a big settlement. And $500k for loss of consortium?

CA must not have closed the loopholes in their laws. In OH and PA, people hit wild deer on a regular basis, and from what I've heard, they are ticketed for failure to control. The same thing happens when the states, counties and cities fail to keep ice and snow off of the roadways. If you skid, you're ticketed for failure to control.
Once I saw the words motorcycle, pig and crash I had to read it.
I'm still laughing about his wife getting a settlement for loss of consortium. If he regularly has a blood alcohol content above .10, then the manufacturer of his beverage of choice could be sued as well. (hee hee)
The state cannot control wildlife on the highways. You can bet if the PETA people found out some wild pigs were being shot, that would result in frivolous lawsuits against the state too. Around here, we know to watch for deer and the occasional stray bull or cow.
As far as loss of consortium goes, it would have been alot less expensive to buy her a solid gold dildo. I hope the whole thing it overturned. It's ridiculous. How is being under the influence now a factor for hitting something in the road? To be honest, I feel sorry for the poor pig.
