Yes what a great country we live in! The government pays us $4,000 for having a baby {we need to fill this part of the earth} and due to the economic crisis we get $900 dollars from the goverment....of course some people tried using the baby money to buy a Plasma TV so now the draw out the payments rather then a tempting lump sum.

Basically, the government took your money from you in the form of taxes and then was gracious enough to give it back to you... and called it a "gift".
I'll show you:
Give me $15,000 of your hard earned money or I'll lock you in a cage for 20 years.
Once I get your money, I'll give back $10,000 while keeping $5000.
Smile! It was a big gift from me!

Even worst... since there is a deficit in the government spending, it means they took out a loan and gave you the money. Of course now you have to pay back the loan (in taxes), plus interest.
Ever get one of those offers in the mail that says "You can have $5,000 right now if you sign this and mail it back! (and pay it back with crazy interest)"?
That's basically what the government did, only you didn't have the option of throwing away the scam junk mail. You were forced to take the money and pay the interest.

Thanks "Elsewhere" tommorow I'm getting a cheque for $900 bucks and I feel depressed about it.....maybe I should have some kids..bling bling!

Hell, pay off your debts or put the money in a CD or some other interest bearing instrument . Might as well make a little money off it if.
