How could there even be 8% of JW's that accept evolution?

Maybe that 8% are some of the ones that are stuck in for family reasons, etc. but no longer believe.

JWs 1st and Mormons 2nd. Great cults think alike. Just shows how indpendent cult members are in their thinking.

As for the 8% that agree with evolution, I also think there was something in that same survey that listed some JWs as living together, not married. So somebody in that group's either messing with the researchers or living a double life.

Actually, this does surprise me. I would think if you ask any religious person whether evolution is the best explaination for life on earth, they'd say no. But, JWs always seemed a little more creative with the creation account. While many fundys believe the earth and everything in it was created in 144 hours, the JWs at least allow the earth to be more than 6000 years old. I could see the JWs maybe allowing for a little bit of evolution, provided certain basic types were created.

I suppose this low score is the result of the fact that the JWs actually have a book to specifically tell them it's false. And they aren't encouraged to go to college to learn otherwise. Back to more control. This survey says the JWs are the most controlled group.

I wonder if that means that 8% are on their way to becoming apostates. The Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger teaches creation, and that anyone that believes in evolution is believing "the lie of Satan".

It's either the "lie of Satan" or the lie of Jehovah. And the lie of Jehovah is much more blatant--all it takes is one instance of a human remains that is more than 10,000 years to prove creation wrong. Notably, the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger trashes any dating method that could prove within a few hundred years the age of human remains that are close to 50,000 years old, or even older--saying that it is off by several orders of magnitude to prevent the witlesses from investigating.
