My granddaughter's friend has a Bible story book from her church, and the two girls read the story about Jesus' last supper and how Jesus died on the cross. When granddaughter mentioned to her (other) grandmother that she had been reading this book, grandma quickly explained that Jesus didn't die on a cross but on a torture stake. Granddaughter went to her mother (my daughter-in-law), and she pulled out the WT Bible Stories book and together they compared it with the book that my granddaughter's friend had shared. There was a world of difference. The WT book was too difficult for a 6-year old to read or understand, but the book from her friend's church was written in very simple, easy to understand language.
Then my granddaughter asked her mom, "If Jesus died for our sins, what difference does it make if it was on a cross or on a stake?" My daughter-in-law had to agree. She took her to the Memorial Thursday night anyway, but granddaughter told her mother when she got home that she doesn't want to go again. Daughter-in-law is OK with that as the Memorial is the only meeting she ever goes to anyway, and she'd rather not go.
I'm so glad she's my DIL.
