A LOT OF CRIMINALS LIKE IAN HUNTLEY THINK THEY MAY FIND A GET-OUT-OF PRISON CARD,SO THEY CAN BE SET FREE AND LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER,THEY DON'T THINK THAT IF YOU DIDN'T COMMIT THE CRIME,YOU WOULDN'T BE DOING TTHE TIME

Amazing
Many times people in prison are innocent. The false prosecution rate is so bad in some states, like Illinois, that the Governor had to set aside 50% of the death penalty convictions, and nearly half that number were later proven innocent through DNA testing. This shows that the state has so much power they can overwhelm an innocent person who does not have to resources to fight the State.
Decades ago, prosecutors did not have an interest in a 'conviction rate' as they were only interested in the truth. Today, because in most jurisdictions prosecutors are elected, and many times based on conviction rate, that they only care about winning at all costs. They greedily seek being elected to political office or elected to a judgeship. The American judicial system is no longer the pride of the world. And, most nations really need to totally reform their judicial and punitive processes.
I suppose that anyone in prison - guilty or innocent - would love to study law. Who wants to share a cell with a 300 pound guy named Bubba who loves to screw a fellow inmate.
I am a big believer in the death penality ... but I cannot justify it under our current primitive system.

A Criminals place should be far from any library of any kind. How about we send them all to the Mexican border to build the Great Wall of Texas ?
Or help our new President build that high speed railway he is dreaming about ?, I think that would cut the cost a little.
How many inmates who get law degrees really help others anyway ? Im sure law firms everywhere are itching to get their hands on some of that cream of the crop. ( yeah right!! )
I can sum it up in two words on how this citizen feels about this topic. CHAIN GANG for those who are in for life instead of a library card, How about some training in the trades for those who are getting out someday ? It would be a lost cause to teach them to read when most can barely talk.
Maybe then they can add to society in some way instead of their greedy search to try and free themselves for crimes THEY DID. Something tells me that most who study law in prison ARE GUILTY and should be swinging a pick and sledgehammer instead of sporting reading glasses.
The more prisons the better, But think about it , If you knew that you would be on a chain gang for years if you got caught doing what your criminal mind is thinking of, Your under developed brain may actually think twise.
