funny side-note to this topic; I googled "when eyes of blind ones see again" and found a reference in a blog discussion titled "Your most hated song", lol:
5/16/08 Jeunelle My Grandmother is a devote Jehovah's Witness
and she always use to embarrass the hell out of me with that annoying song she sang in Church.
First of all she had to be the only one to wear that big red ugly hat with the bow on top
and sit up in front row and sing
"When eyes of blind ones see again, when ears of deaf ones hear again...
then you know you'll have to realize...if you keep your eyes on the prize".
Everyone would ask me if that was my Grandmother and I would deny it like Peter denied Christ.
"Oh hell no, I never saw that woman before in my life".
I am not a Jehovah's Witness, she ruined it for me.
Blind to be cured with stem cells
Source: The Times BRITISH scientists have developed the world’s first stem cell therapy to cure the most common cause of blindness. Surgeons predict it will become a routine, one-hour procedure that will be generally available in six or seven years’ time. The treatment involves replacing a layer of degenerated cells with new ones created from embryonic stem cells. It was pioneered by scientists and surgeons from the Institute of Ophthalmology at University College London and Moorfields eye hospital. This week Pfizer, the world’s largest pharmaceutical research company, will announce its financial backing to bring the therapy to patients. The treatment will tackle age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the most common cause of blindness. It affects more than 500,000 Britons and the number is forecast to increase significantly as people live longer. The disease involves the loss of eye cells.
