Thank you Jeff for posting this. Its great that you feel this info is important.

I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer over 10 years ago. I was 42. I had just had a mammogram 3 months before which found a lump that was biopsied(?) and found to be benign. 2 months later I noticed redness around the small incision site and then swelling. When my doctor saw it she immediately sent me to a surgeon for anoter biopsy. The day after the diagnosis I was at the hospital having a port installed in my chest for the chemo that was to begin the day after. After chemo, a mastectomy, and after the mastectomy another 3 months of chemo, and to finish it off a number of weeks of radiation.

I lost my hair twice, was sick as a dog for 10 months and developed lymphadema. I was also diagnosed with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, which my doctors say was precipitated by all the trauma caused by the surgeries and treatments. My body looks like I've been through a war because of all the scars.

In spite of all this I'm still here! I appreciate every day and live my life with much less fear than before. In some ways the cancer gave me a gift - the ability to live fully and with confidence. There IS life after cancer.

So thanks again - women need this information.
