Spoke to a close Minsterial Servant friend a year ago about why I did not attend the Convention...told him about the Blood hypocracy..we are disfellowshiped for donating but can freely use many litres to amke "fractions"....the false prophecies 1914, 1918, 1925,1975, the Generation" ...showed him Russells Pyramid and Bethsarim, his answer....."Look I don't worry about those things too much, my house is always full of Brothers and Sisters"..........My response WTF! What KIND of answer is that?! Maybe thats just it..we attend to be a community...do what you have to do, you don't need to really believe in it fool! "At least my house is full of Brothers" INDEED!

I went to his Cong 6 months ago and my "friend" for 15 years snubbed me....gave me a dirty lool at did not speak to me, and his wife went home early to avoid me...nice!

In other words the Society could tell him anything and he'll go along with it because he enjoys the association and friendship of the brothers and sisters. You should join a church group that does lots of extra-curricular activities and talk to him about it. There are some that do concerts in the church, they do a weekly picnic, there's an hour to associate after meetings with free refreshments. You could even invite some of those warm, loving people over for a party and invite him too.

That would do far more to get them to leave than any doctrine ever could.

Unfortunately being logical is not the witnesses best quality.

There are now so many things that simply do not make sense like the examples you gave plus the constant hypocrisy when they say one thing to the public then say or do something completely different to the rank and file.

Jehovah's Witnesses apparently have the highest amount of any other religeon of people who come in then leave when they find out all the things they were not told when they were studying.

My 30 year old son is still in and I'm sure it as that mini. servant said ''my house is always full up with brothers and sisters''. Socially it is great if you don't mind living a lie. That is why I left and hopefully one day my son will see the light as well.

I think it's very reasonable for some people to not want to leave based on the truth-value of the beliefs alone.

There is an economics / decision making problem called the "shopping cart dilemma" or some such.

In a shopping checkout queue you make a choice about the line you will be in based on an asessment of current and past data. You chose the line you think may be the fastest, easiest or best. But if it turns out your line is not the fastest, you are usually better off staying in the same line rather than trying another line.

By analogy, plenty of people still think they are "better off" staying and avoiding thinking too hard about the problems of the religion. I'm pretty clear that my life circumstances permitted me to leave and be better off for it. I struggled with doctrines for years but sat on them.

I think a great way to get people out is to screw with the social dynamics. Get your family into a situation where they could be obviously better off by leaving. Encourage the kids to have worldly friends and opportunities.

Yeah but he offered NOT ONE WORD IN DEFENSE...he stood there with his mouth open and then came up with that classic line....."Screw the doctrines, I have a house full of friends..." Top notch "reasoning from the Scriptures."

Dude, that sounds like a typical JW. You ask a question they can't answer, and they answer it with something totally off-topic.

JW's are very scatterbrained. They're trained to divert the issue at all times, instead of facing it head-on.

As someone on this board once said, The GB got exactly what they wanted: brainless sheep who follow their every move.
