Depends on which side you are batting for......

The current light: Getting rid of anyone who isn't in unity with the Bible truths as taught by Jehovah's Witnesses...... ie you have a disagreement with anything and are not willing to suck it up, keep your mouth shut, and pull your weight in FS. ...... Maybe look up Olin Moyle.

Wannabe light: Losing all the BS of Rutherford and Franz, but still wanting the WTS to exist on some redeemable level.

I don't know what good it would do to clean up a structure that is completely rotted--better to blow it up or burn it down, and build another (after doing major work on the foundation).

    "Cleaning up the Organization"

I have said it tons, but when it comes down to actually explaining it, I'm searching for words.

Yknott touched on it with "Getting rid of anyone who isn't in unity with the Bible truths as taught by Jehovah's Witnesses" , but I think it can be elaborated on a bit more.

"Cleaning up" is the important part. It could be applied to the organization, a congregation, or even a group of individuals.

Essentially, I think it would be filtering out people that conform the least to what the Watchtower teaches. If a Witness has some "wordly traits", but doesn't do anything to get disfellowshipped, there is something "different" about them in the eyes of a JW. They will get various titles too. "spiritually weak" etc etc.

For example, if there was someone who was told they had to leave the Bethel due to the downsizing. If that person was "spiritually strong" in many ways, but had a tendancy to gossip, it may be viwed as "cleaning up" the Bethel, by them not being there to gossip with other brothers and sisters. It would make the Bethel "stronger" by not having that influence there.

something like that....I hope that helps.

So does the WBTS believe that there are that many people at Bethel that are not agreeing with those at the top? Are there that many people that are questioning things? Is this the reason for the mass layoffs?

SFL, Not necessarily so, maybe some dubs will think that way.

It means getting rid of anybody or anything that smacks of independent thinking. That means anyone with one or more active brain cells get kicked out, so the braindead may continue with their braindead faith.

The layoffs are causing many Bethelites (current and reassigned) to question, along with changes to long standing interpretations as well as time just marching on and no real 'end' in sight.

However in the US the layoffs primarily have to do with $$$$$$. Older ones are a higher liability for medical needs versus younger newbies. Our CO is popping over next weekend unofficially to give a pitch to the teenagers and parents about applying for Bethel after high school graduation.

In Spain the layoffs have to do with... you guessed it $$$$$$, since the Spanish Govt will be requiring the WTS to pay monies into their social security structure......

And let us not forget the Germans are not out of danger yet.... the legal case hasn't fully been settled either.

It was only a matter of time before the legal corporate interests were on par with the writing department.... it is a natural progression in business should such departments continue to create liabilities as the writing dept has for decades. Eventually the Legal Dept will take over entirely.

So I guess I will add a 3rd definition to 'cleaning up the org'

3: Streamlining production, distribution, and local representation that the legal dept deems dead weight to the Org. This is not limited to Bethel structures and personnel but also includes assembly and kingdom halls (even circuits, perhaps districts) that do not contribute financially enough according to the WTS for the WTS to grace the lives of the offending area.......
