Choosing WT Leaders and Replacements---The Biblical Way!

Cleromancy is a form of divination by casting lots or throwing the bones. Usually you would consider this a random act of chance, but some people believe the will of god (or other deities) is revealed through this method.

    For example:

    Acts 1:

23-26They nominated two: Joseph Barsabbas, nicknamed Justus, and Matthias. Then they prayed, "You, O God, know every one of us inside and out. Make plain which of these two men you choose to take the place in this ministry and leadership that Judas threw away in order to go his own way." They then drew straws. Matthias won and was counted in with the eleven apostles.

It was my understanding that WT did not allow games and competitions where there were "winners" and "losers". How do they reconcile this when using divination?

Will WT mainstream by using more sophisticated and contemporary methods of divination such as I Ching?

Do you think this method of divination is a rather big assumption, or do you think god really shows up when elders draw straws?

    Hi CD,

The subject of "casting lots" comes up several times in the bible, both for the godly and the ungodly.

In the cases of the godly deciding by "chance" or "fate", they had already committed the matter to God.

Even in some cases of the ungodly determining something by chance, it seems clear that God had His hand in the outcome, see the story of Jonah for example.

The number of occasions I have opened my bible at "random" and God has spoken to me directly about a current situation has been many.

However, in general we are not called to live out life by the rolls of a dice or the scripture would give us examples on every page. We are called to live according to His Word and His Spirit.

    All the best,

    Stephen

Amazing, maybe you should be a prophet. Whenever I randomly opened my bible for some advice, I'd end up reading Solomon's words about some hot chick with tower-like bosoms, or some weird hebrew laws regarding beasts of the field or someting.

I guess the first trick is... don't 'randomly' open to the first 2/3rds of the bible.

Do they have secret elders meetings where they sacrifice a goat and read the entrails?

Stephen : "The number of occasions I have opened my bible at "random" and God has spoken to me directly about a current situation has been many."

Stephen, what you are doing is based on superstition and your own wishful thinking.

In Deut. 18:10 your god says this is against his commandments:

10There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.

So either your god breaks his own laws, or perhaps he has just made an exception to answer you by turning the pages of your book.

What you are doing is called Bibliomancy. Look it up. It is an occult magic practice.

Furthermore....Who decided that Judas had to be replaced? Who decided that there "had to be" twelve?

It is worth taking a much deeper look at Paul who authored Acts and promoted such nonsense. Paul is largely responsible for the movement of "christianity". Jesus himself did not attempt to start a new religion and that was not his mission. He was only trying to break the bondage of manipulation that people were under. He, like the rest of the people on this website, was trying to speak out about the lies and the deceptions.

Politics, religion, and commerce had a nice little scam going. They still do. This is why Jesus had to be silenced because he upset the applecart. Money is serious business to these people.

..... running a bit off topic, but back to subject.....
