  Our meat-based diet is partly to blame, as land, water, and other resources that could be used to grow food for human beings are being used to grow crops for farmed animals instead. According to a recent report by Compassion in World Framing, "[c]rops that could be used to feed the hungry are instead being used to fatten animals raised for food." It takes up to 16 pounds of grain to produce just 1 pound of edible animal flesh.

  The problem with world hunger is more political than anything else. In many countries, food sits in warehouses and rots because the government starves people into submission. Look at Sudan, for instance.

  I've seen people in America eating right out of dumpsters. Much more unsanitary than refrigerated waste,,,,maybe not that much.

  There are between 1.35 and 1.5 Million homeless children in the USA. Starting on June 15, my 14 year old granson will begin walking from Orlando Florida to Washington DC to call attention to the plight of these children. He will live as a homeless child himself...stopping at shelters along the way, and talking to homeless children, sharing their stories with the world.

  The Today Show will be there at the kick off of his journey and will continue coverage periodically until he finishes the 1100 mile walk. It will take about 2 months.
