There was a time when blacks and women could not even vote. So what's next?

Right now I don't think it's possible. However in smaller elections they've done rather well. Polls show they still stand a better chance of being elected than an atheist.

i dont think it is so much
a case of "if" as "when"...
    and they wont be elected
    because they are gay, but
    because they were deemed
    best candidate by a majority

    same thing with atheists...
    just a matter of time....

What is the world coming to when others, besides the dominant groups, want equality?

It's a slippery slope, if you allow a glbt President you'll end up having siblings asking to stand for election or maybe a monkey will be put up as a front by Neo-cons...

Probably too many fundamentalist and or conservative groups consider them to be too outside the social norm now for that. But, openly gay, bi, transgendered and lesbian people are holding all kinds of other prominent positions in religion, politics, and business.

They're not going away, as far as I can tell. *G*
