If people take vacation elsewhere, it would not be wise to leave the candles burning.

Get electric candles--they are safer and cheaper to run. If you use the new LED candles, they will last many years (assuming the switch in the cap, which is always made to break after a few battery changes, holds up). And those candles do not start fires.
Of course, the witlesses will find some stupid rule of their own against it--so they can drum up persecution and rant about how Satan is persecuting them and that the end is at hand.

As a non Catholic, I too would object to this enforced rule that I should take part in their regimented celebration.. I wonder what the ACLU would make of it if that were done in the USA?
