Ok, what do you think of this job? Is it safe? Worthwhile($)? I have a job offer (actually a contract position) in the works and would like some input-there are a lot of experiences on this site.
Help??!!

I think it would be a negitive job. How ever people will always open the door to a lady.
I think it is kind of negative too, but let's face it, these things have to be done, and I am interested in the legal field.
I am interested in anyone else who has done it and any insight they could give me. I thought with this crowd, there must have been a couple who have done it. Of course, as the hours are incompatible with JWism(after dinner to bedtime) maybe that was optimistic-of course, there are a lot who have been out for a long time.
I haven't been one, but I've known a few and hired many in the course of my business career.

Somebody has to do it.
Is it safe?
No.
Ok, I'll elaborate. Not infrequently some idiot decides to take his anger out on the messenger. I would not want my daughter doing this job. I'd warn my sone about it.
Worthwhile($)?
Depends on how desperate you are for a job. I suspect it pays the rent and puts food on the table, but won't make you rich.
Well, rich isn't the goal. Making a living and helping support my family is.
I did it a few times years ago. Once I did for a friend who in turn served papers for me. I also did it a couple of times for some people I knew that owned apartments. I never had a problem but I could see where it could have got pretty ugly especially in something personal like an eviction.
My experience with process serving was when I was in law enforcement. It was usually fairly boring but there were some people that were less than happy to receive papers....sicced dogs on the server, tried to drive them over with a tractor, and one time pulled a gun. These servers were all in law enforcement, carried guns, but did not wear uniforms. I'm sure that it varies by town, city, county, state.
