They're 'shifty'? (In order to have capitals interspered amongst your typing you have to hit the shift key quite a bit. I think I would find that annoying when typing).

They think it's cool, and because it's deliberate it hides the fact that they don't have a basic command of the English language.

Teens do it to appear cool, but comes across as moronic. Grown ups do it to try to look hip, but it comes across as pathetic AND moronic.

They like being l33t.
It's gets bad with MMO players like EQ with the l33t speak, especially if they play a dr00d (druid) class. I hate those guys.
