So here I was wanting to start a new holiday tradition with my child by shooting off fireworks- but I thought the wife would be opposed. Lo and behold, she suggests it herself! She related how that when she was a kid that the neighbors felt sorry for her because her family never celebrated holidays. Interesting, too, is the fact that just the other day there was a birthday party at work and she felt very awkward being the only one not participating. I reminded her that I went through 12 years of that in school. She went through far less since she was home schooled in high school. I realize it's not the 4th yet, but still this all makes me optimistic!
Tonight I shot off fireworks- and it was my JW wife's idea!

It's a start...!
Funny about taking our stands at school. We faced that crap every single day. Yet when adults (my parents at the time) or homeschooled kids have to face just a little resistance, they try to find ways to dodge the in-your-face stand.
I hope you get to raise your child with massive amounts of self-esteem and good social skills and connections. And great childhood memories!

Of course she wanted you to do it tonight. It would have been way too patriotic to do it Saturday night! haha
