So, I recently got a job with Catholic community services. For the second time in the last month or so, my mom made the point that "See, you know college doesn't open every door, you are doing fine without a college degree! (I have 2 years, no diploma).
I have been unemployed from a part time job at a newspaper since last August. I am making less than $13 hr, 16 hours a week in a temporary job. Now, to HER, in a 30 hour a week job that pays $8 something an hour, maybe that looks good. But lets be real-it isn't. I may lead to a better, perm, ft job, but no guarantee-funding of these things is really shaky now.
Is there some new push against college educations? Whenever I speak of how I wish I had finished my degree, I am getting this robotic little speech about college education. As a mom with a 17 yo who already has her associate degree and whom I want to continue on to university, I am not appreciating the commentary. Are they now as much a part of the JW spiel as "I want to live forever on a paradise earth"?.
