Seriously though, it sounds like the pope would like to see the world become a better place. Back in the 70's, when studying the revelation book, i asked them why the un making the world a better place was so bad. Guess, i still have the same question.. The answer i got was because it's MEN doing it, not god. Wtgod has a serious ego problem. Not so, the pope. Gotta give him a bit of credit. Countries like canada, the us, and western europe don't need un intervention. However, africa, the middle east, central and south america could use some form of standardized intervention.

Sure the un is corrupt, unlike the american corporate govt, w it's divinely mandated capitalism (calvin);) The recent meltdown should help americans w the capitalist ideal to take a quick look in the mirror, before the criticise efforts outside of their own borders. My opinion.

This gives reason for the jws to feel that the end is near.

I remember in the 70s when a circuit overseer said in the car group that the pope announced the year of peace and security. He just knew that the end was going to happen because of the pope's remark.

I don't think the UN gives a damn what the pope says to begin with. Certainly, if the Watchtower predicted it - it will surely be wrong. They have a string going.

Identifying the UN as the Great Harlot spoken in the bible is a true maligning injustice to the efforts it portrays.

This is just one of the most insidious and stupid doctrinal statements ever produced by the Watchtower Society !

I never thought of it quite like that,of course the teaching of Jesus is to make the World a better place in the here and now,so the U.N are following his teachings,even if not on purpose, and the WT are NOT.
