Is this like the WTS teaches that sisters should wear dresses to the conventions, meetings, and field service?

If a "sister" did wear pants and refused to stop, what would they do?

They cannot stone her nor disfellowship her. The worst would be to have a talk about "wearing pants" and stripping (pun intended) her of her privileges of cleaning the toilets and commenting.

If the majority of a country became jw, this kind of stuff would develop. They'ld be stoning people, making outcasts who have no support of any kind. In that situation, smoking a ciggarete would lose you your friends, family, job, house, car, drivers liscence. You would recieve scorn, rebukes and spit every day.

Yep. It's usually in so-called theocratic run governments where these things happen. If a country became majority JWs and they were able to hold governmental office, a similar theocracy would emerge.

I debated this with my Mom last winter. It's cold in Chicago in the winter and she flat out refused to wear pants in FS. All she would repeat was "it would be a stain on Jehovah. I have to wear a skirt. It is not showing the proper respect."

I tried and tried to get her to see that it was simply a control issue; no, she wouldn't wear pants for anything.

When I saw this on the news, I immediately thought of my Mom.

I was watching THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW with the wife the other day. The new deputy had arrested Aunt Bea and the entire Ladies Auxilliary Club for gambling (Bingo). Anyway, Andy and all the men did not know how to make dinner for their children or themselves with the ladies locked up. My wife asked if that was realistic.

I said, it's a town in the 60's that's even more laid back and more like the 40's or 50's than any bigger towns around. The women ALL wear skirts or dresses all the time, even at home. It's just unheard of to wear pants for women. Do you suppose in such a town, the women are allowed to take the night off and have the man cook? Never. Of course they don't know how to cook. They still have the women under their control. The women have to do as their husbands say.

Anyway, I thought my story fit.

OTWO- My wife and I were talking about this situation and we both agreed that in many cultures and countries there is far too much of the " patriarch syndrome" or worse still a " chauvanistic syndrome " where women and children are treated as second class citizens - sometimes not even as good as second class citizens. It's the typical story of through the centuries of bullies abusing power " usually wealthy ruling males " and subjugating the populace to their whims and desires. I hope this lady does keep up the fight and other countries media are allowed to come in and investigate.

Some of these countries allowing these abuses are like JW's in that they don't want any of the creepy customs or policies exposed to the outside world. Just another form of " information control" so their skeletons can keep dancing in the closet . Such creepizoids ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
