Yesterday I observed a funny thing a few blocks from where I live. I had the day off from work and was doing my 2 hour morning jog/walk and around 9:45 am a sedan with four young JW's in field service drove passed me and parked a couple of houses ahead of me. The song on the car radio was blaring Britney Spears "If you seek Amy" and as they exited the car, the two girls were singing in unison the la la la la la la la la part.

As I walked past I said "good jam there" to which one replied "yeah it's one of her better songs."

    LOL

What the hell, over? Surely these young 'uns know what this song is about!

    If You Seek Amy Lyrics

la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la

    Oh baby baby
    Have you seen Amy tonight?
Is she in the bathroom is she smoking up outside?
    Oh baby baby
Does she take a piece of lime
For the drink that I’m a buy her
Do you know just what she likes?

    Oh oh
Tell me have you seen her cause I’m so oh
I can’t get her off of my brain
I just wanna go to the party she gon’ go
    Can’t somebody take me home
Ha ha he he ha ha ho

    Love me, hate me
Say what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy
    Love me, hate me
But can’t you see what I see?
All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy
    (Love me, hate me)

la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la

Amy told me thats shes gonna meet me up
I don’t know where or when and now their closing up the club
I’ve seen her once or twice before she knows my face
But its hard to see with all the people standing in the way

    Oh oh
Tell me have you seen her cause I’m so oh
I can’t get her off of my brain
I just wanna go to the party she gon’ go
    Can’t somebody take me home
Ha ha he he ha ha ho

    Love me, hate me
Say what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy
    Love me, hate me
But can’t you see what I see?
All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy
    (Love me, hate me)
Say what you want about me
Oh but can’t you see what I see
Say what you want about me

So tell me if you see her
(if you knew what she was wearing and what she was like)
Cause I’ve been waiting here forever
(if you knew if she was going out of line)
Oh baby baby if you seek amy tonight
Oh baby baby we’ll do whatever you like
    Oh baby baby baby
    Oh baby baby baby

la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la

    Love me, hate me
Say what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy
    Love me, hate me
But can’t you see what I see?
All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy

    Love me, hate me
Say what you want about me
    Love me, hate me
But can’t you see what I see
All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy
    Love me, hate me
Say what you want about me
Oh but can’t you see what I see
Say what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy

    It's pronounced: F U see K me.

I think it's shameful that they are listening to Brittney Spears. Never mind the lyrics; she's got no talent.

I kind of feel sorry for her. I think her parents sold her to the record company, poor thing.

I had an incident similar to that of Donny's when we were out during the week (when I was an older teenager) our car group passed a group of young witnesses that were all pioneering for the month except one who was unbaptized. They had a station wagon full of youths their age and eager to get out of the car and do the street, it was almost 11, coffee time! One of the girls got out of the car before it was turned off, meaning the radio was still on.

You could hear something loud in there, and when she opened the door: "WHAT YOU GONNA DO WITH ALL THAT JUNK,ALL THAT JUNK INSIDE YOUR TRUNK?" then she saw us and the faces of some of the people in the car (I wish I could remember who was there) and blushed, and the car was turned off by the driver almost right after the line got out so it was stopped but I was already supressing laughter, not visibly but it was there. If I laughed I'd probably get in trouble.

My cargroups reaction was to get out of there as we were doing RV's anyway and we didn't really want to be at door while there were 3 sets of very giggly/hyper teenagers doing door to door, it would be a witness invasion.

I guess the song mentions "true religion" and "the brothers" but I have a strong feeling that isn't what it means. (I know what it means I'm being silly). I don't listen to that sort of stuff but it sure gets caught in your head.

Same with ringtones....don't have a labeled satanic by the society-group's ringtone on your phone. If your phone goes off at the meeting, you're screwed.

We used to listen to gangster rap and Metallica, and various other Goth metal bands when we were out "declaring the word of God". I remember me and my best friend had Metallica BLASTING when a brother from another congregation walked up and confronted us about working HIS laundromat. Good times...

Witnesses including the young are very good at seperating their religious life as a JW from their life in the real world. The Watchtower discourages people from learning to play an instrument and starting a band so there is no JW music out there for them to listen so they go to the "world" to get what they need. When you think about it that is just about how everything is done with the Witnesses. They don't allow their follower to learn so many things that in order for them to survive they need to go to those who can only do what they do because they weren't part of the Watchtower. I guess they could listen to something a little milder be they again in their belief system all music apart from Kingdom melodies are part of satan's system so what is the difference?

I was never in a car group that played the radio or a cd in my 5 years, and when I drove one day and put on Kingdom Melodies, I was told to turn it off, as music detracted from the Ministry.

YEah we NEVER were allowed to play music while out in service . When I grew up and my kids were teens I let them play music if we were in rural area ,but usually only on the way home .

Ok, I'm such a dolt. 43 and I had to Wiki it to see what the hell it was about. That girl is crass! And a little stuck on herself.

I am the person that never had so much as a joint offered to me, even when I worked in Chelsea! But I'm not a virgin. Yes, I am mortified.
