Today I received a letter from the "Property Tax Review Board" informing me that I should file for a property tax reduction. For a fee of course. Although it looked somewhat official I was sure it was a scam so I Googled their name and sure enough this scam is all over the news in Northern Nevada. It looks like they sent letters to everyone with property in Douglas County Nevada. I also saw something similar was going on in Arizona. I'm sure they won't confined their scam to those areas so I thought I'd make everyone aware of this scam. And I'm sure other tax scams will follow.

This went around the county I lived in too. It is a total scam. In California, you can have your property assessed for FREE from the County Assessor.

Still, you might want to call and find out if property values have fallen in your area. If they have, you may be able to get a reduction on your taxes. An acquaintance of mine did.

You are right Robdar and I saw that recommended on the news channel I watched on the internet. You just contact the county tax board directly. It won't cost you a thing to find if you can reduce your tax rate. I think in areas where they are hard hit with foreclosure it might be less likely because they are taking so much less it that the county may be hurting for funds.

yea I recommend u go to the county assesor's office directly and apply for a reduction. It's easy and free. I did this back in the 90's and received relief

Then again a Tax scam that steals a couple of hundred dollars from you is a better thing to fall for than a religious scam that robs you of years of your life.
