    So... I went to a bunch of them. Norton must have their heads planted in their arse because there was nothing nasty about them. Other than the sites being really boring, nothing tried to creep into my PC. I've been to far worse ones that have zillions of popups, request that you sign up for a free trial, download their software, etc etc. THOSE are the sites that I worry about.

    The most dangerous site for a newly studying person is watchtower.org. If you land there first, chances are you are going nowhere else because they will tell you not to. And, if it makes you progress towards becoming a witless, your computer could easily be hijacked for washtowel research or thrown out to make room for more field circus. Notably, this site does nothing if you are already familiar with their lies and tricks.

    It is unlikely that people intentionally visit these sites, or that you would instantly become infected by merely looking at them.

    Instead I bet these sites hosted some malware that was then linked to in spam email, linked to from another site, etc.
