Talk with a Governing Body member

What would you say to a Governing Body member if you had the chance?
A few years back while I was a JW I visited my sister and brother-in-law at Bethel. Well, after the grand tour of Crooklyn, the farm and having dinner with the Bethel “family” I had the “honor” of attending the Sunday meeting at a congregation where a couple of the Governing Body members attended. I remember sitting behind one, I think it was Swingle (sp?) who was there with his wife who had a stroke. I spoke with him for a little bit and he was ok. I wish I could say he was an ass but other then being a little arrogant, he wasn’t too bad. And I do have to say that he was nice to my two kids. But one thing has stuck with me all this time. There wasn’t a “mad rush” to sit by these GB members. Though there was a group around them after the meeting, I didn’t have to wait too long to speak to him. I’ve often thought “what would I say to him now.” Would I have a backhanded comment, would I say something nice but thought provoking or would I tell him that he’s an a-hole who has shared in ruining thousands of lives. What would you say to him?
You know, for the price of a plane ticket to NY, one could have a conversation with a real-live GB member. Could be fun!

I had the opportunity to talk with Jack Barr, but I declined to do so. Personally I have nothing to say to the Governing Body that would make me feel any better. Knowing that they will have to answer to God is good enough for me.

I don't have much hope that anything I could say to a GB member would do any good. They are so smug, steeped in success, that they couldn't feel that they would have anything to learn from someone such as I. It is from our failures that we learn. Our failures force us to look at ourselves and ask what we're doing wrong.

I'm sure no GB member could ever acknowledge he had done anything wrong. So sad...

    Good one, ThiChi!

About 15 years ago, Fred Franz came to our area, and he was in the back seat of a friend's car and they stopped by the house we were socializing in at the time. I went out to the car to say hi to the little old dude, an he seemed unassuming enough. Then they departed. Also, a couple of yrs ago, Carey Barber member gave a couple of talks at our cicuit assembly. His talks were rather boring and really very unsubstantive. He kept repeating "you don't have to be disfellowshipped", a statement that I found to be odd to say the least. Then, afterward, he came to the front of the hall and pretty many friends were trying to greet him. I went over and said hello. I felt like asking him if he was having an autograph-signing session, but just passed along after saying hello.
