Zion's Watch Tower and Herald of Christ's Presence established in 1879, included "Christ's Presence" in the title because they thought Christ was present since 1874. Notice this two-part informational video that uses WT literature to reveal WT teachings.

Not to detract from the point of the video....

The last clear reference to 1874 as the year the parousia occured appears in the 1929 book Prophecy. This event was relocated to 1914 in the early 1930's, not 1943 as the Proclaimer's book for some strange reason claims. (See for example The Watchtower December 1, 1933 p. 362)

What actually happened in 1943 was the relocation of the 6000 year anniversary since the creation of Adam from 1874 to the mid 70's. (The Truth Shall Make You Free 1943 pp. 141-152) This, of course is what set the stage for the 1975 fiasco.

The past presidents of the WTS. and the now GB members have the responsibility to spin doctrinal bullshit

to the public in a effort to keep the WTS in operation, it has become their indentured living/lifestyle so to speak.

Thats pretty much of the truth of the matter and will continue on most likely in this fashion for years to come.

Remember there are thousands of people around the world that are financially supported by the WTS., including the GB.

To let this fail would be catastrophic and would only strip the viability of what they profess.

This strongly ties into why they quickly DF members who question their doctrines and label them as evil apostates, essentially making them

nonexistent people with tape over their mouths.

Power becomes fleeting if you don't have stringent rules in place to maintain it.

Hey, they said it. Sure, they even conflict themselves.

I suppose that would be similar to the 7,000-year creative days. Some publications stopped referring to them yet they were not clearly denied. Hey, their 1976 excuse about not knowing when Eve was created is still in play. They never said something different.

Yes, but we, the apostates and UBM's are the 'honest' side of the debate

Hey, their 1976 excuse about not knowing when Eve was created is still in play. They never said something different.

That excuse is a typical JW lie. Prior to 1975, they indicated in print that Eve was created in the same year as Adam on three separate occasions

They never said something different AFTER making the excuse. AFTER.

I'm old enough to remember studying the 1940's books The Kingdom is at Hand and The Truth Shall Make You Free, so this isn't news to me. It didn't matter to most when the change was made. It was seen as "advancing light." We sang about it. It's been so long that I no longer remember the name of the song, but it contained the words "advancing light." Every change was seen that way.

Plainly the Watchtowerites distort their own history, most often by what they leave out than by what they say. They have a view of themselves that depends on forwarding themselves as God's particular servants. To keep that view, they have to distort their history.

You may like to read the new book I've mentioned here before, Nelson Barbour: The Millennium's Forgotten Prophet. He developed the 1874 date. The story behind that is told in detail in the book. It's a well documented history without either a pro witness or anti witness agenda. It's a pleasure to read straight, honest history about these events.

    The book is here:

The author's Watchtower History site is here:

I can't recommend the book enough. I've followed the blog almost since that start. The Watchower should be this open with its history. Their attempt to hide their past runs contrary to Bible practice.
