Actually, that article pretty much appears in every November (earlier the December) WT. Since 1982, 27 years of desperation then.
It is timed to give jws the "opportunity" to donate or invest in the non-profit corporation (tax breaks) before the end of the year.

I am shocked - does this mean it is not geared to donate into one of their NGOs to provide food or medical care to starving nations like Somalia?
